"I make my work out of my everyday experiences, which I find as perplexing and extraordinary as can be." -Claus Oldenburg
I love desserts and plushies, and I love creating them! I have always done both, but pursued art in college, thinking baking was just a hobby. I rekindled my passion for it while in grad school for psychology and decided I had done things backwards. I now own two businesses, for each passion. The Enchanted Whisk, for baking and pastry arts, and Sew Amusing Creations, for sewing and plush arts. I'm hoping to pursue my career in baking and pastry arts, while sewing and creating art as a hobby. In my free time I like to draw and paint, and showcase that art on a separate DA account, LivesWithCrazy.
My major in college was sculpture and I made my focus in fabric. I do other sculptural and furniture type pieces, and I am getting into some fashion design as well. I have also worked in wood and fiberglass, and if given the chance (ie. a garage or basement shop) I would like to work with them again.
I have no formal training in baking and have been self taught for over 20 years now. There's a lot I feel I could still learn and do better, so I am constantly looking for new techniques to try or new recipes to make.
I'm energetic and quirky, and like to think that shows in my work. My inspiration comes from the things around me and I don't particularly have a certain style that I absolutely love over another. Making my audience happy is what excites me about creating my work, and is what will continue to be my drive.
